2000...We dhoom again !!! The year of phir Dhoom!
The
year of another Dhoom--PHIR DHOOM!
We start the year shooting for Maaeri with the one and only Pradeep Da. We shoot the video in a small village in Haryana in the biting cold and then take a 36 hour journey on the almost extinct Dehradun Express to Mumbai. We shoot on the train contstantly. Rest as they say is history. All our detractors who thought Dhoom was the best we could do, sat up and took notice of Maaeri. Sad, melancholic, angry, but still the nation embraced the song and sang along.
A rocking second video, Phir Dhoom, followed. This time with a bunch of new guys at Watermark. It was surreal and a lot of fun, yet again. I actually fell off a buffalo and landed on my butt! But it was all worth it.
Rimi and Sonal in Maaeri and Indrani in Phir Dhoom lend the charm and beauty that only an Indian girl can. The album is a great success, outselling DHOOM! If you listen to our music with your heart and soul, you'd understand why.
The bouquets don't stop coming and then the brickbats start flying. Some people misusing the anonymity of the Internet sully our guestbook and post venomous and ugly messages. Some people just cannot digest someone else's success and good fortune. it is quite upsetting but it takes all kinds to make the world. It is really pathetic that these people don't have the balls to use their real email addresses. We would have loved to reply to their allegations. The Internet is a open system, so we don't mind much. But if these people had anything really substantial to say, they would have done it face-to-face. Enough about that.
PHIR DHOOM has seen a marked change in how people have begun to percieve us. I believe they now do see Euphoria as a serious band with great potential. We are flying all over the country and abroad, staying in the best hotels and performing for the best audiences. All this on our own terms! Yet, I still feel very grounded and in touch with my roots. I believe success is going to make us more and more humble. All that counts is creating wonderful music for all those who inspire, love and support us so much.
