2001...dhooming across the seven seas!
Sometimes,
a stray oppurtunity turns into a soul searching episode. Mantra
was exactly this. A friend of mine asked me one night what was my mantra
of success. I was tongue-tied. And that happens rarely. Hours into the night
it hit me! the mantra of my success is love! The most positive of all emotions,
love! Its a short life, and I hope everyone spends loving it. Its a great
feeling.
The song is definitely the culmination of the band's quest of getting the right sound. The guitar riffs with the Duff and Tabla, the Bass with the Ektara, and the drums playing in tandem with Indian percussion. Deekshant co-writes the song with me and as always my partner-in-rhyme, DJ, co-composes the music. With a wonderful video by Dibanker Banerjee the song is an instant hit! The song is about life, seen from the eyes of the common man. He lives for his dreams, and his dreams fulfill his life. This is our sixth video. and perhaps the most thought provoking.
We tour extensively and travel to wonderful places like Alwar, Kochi, Lucknow, Jalandhar, besides the big metros. The enthusiasm of our audiences everywhere is awe-inspiring, with them singing each word of every song aloud with us. So much love, so much respect. It all leaves us even more humble and thankful to God.
3 show, in particular, stand out this year. We play with Junoon from Pakistan and Miles from Bangladesh, in Delhi to raise funds for the Gujarat eathquake victims. It was a memorable experience, especially playing with these great musicians from our neighboring countries.
We play in Dubai with Junoon, yet again, this time for a primarily Pakistani audience. No nationalistic rivalry, no slogans, no war, just making great music together. We and Junoon have become great friends. We hope our message of peace and togetherness rubs off.
Then history is made on October 24 when Junoon and Euphoria perform in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, on the UN's 56th anniversary. No other popular band, let alone from India and Pakistan, had ever performed here before. It is an awesome, inspiring and a very emotional moment for us. The audience loved us and we brought the house down! @ bands from 2 rival countries singing the language of love!!!
We are working on our 3rd full-length album and the promise of inspiring music and language of the love remains as strong as ever. Euphoria always has had the love of our people. It is greatest gift we could ever ask for. We arn't rock stars, we are common everyday guys singing about our dreams, aspirations and love.
